Introduction to content types for your knowledge base articles
In this article, we'll provide a brief overview of the different types of content you can add on your articles.
Before adding any content, you’ll first need to choose a layout section to determine how your content will be organised on the page. The layout can either be a single-column or a two-column structure.
For each column you can then choose a content type. Here are the different content types currently availible:
- Add text: use this to write the main body of your article. Text content is essential for providing detailed explanations and instructions.
- Add image: insert images to visually support your text. Images can be screenshots, diagrams, or illustrations.
- Add video: embed videos to provide demonstrations or tutorials. This is particularly useful for step-by-step guides. The knowledge base currently supports Youtube and Vimeo embedded videos.
- Add tip: give important information or suggestions. Tips are visually separated form the main article.
- HTML: insert custom HTML code. This is ideal for advanced formatting, embedding third-party widgets, or adding content not supported by the default blocks. Only use this if you’re comfortable with HTML.
- Download: upload files that users can download directly from the article. This is useful for sharing resources such as PDFs, templates, or user guides.
- Related articles: Link to other knowledge base articles that might be relevant or useful.
