Domain Guard is a domain registration and holding service that helps protect your online identity by securing and holding matching domain names, with registration, monitoring and renewals managed for you. Secured domains can forward visitors to your chosen website or display a holding page. Choose from three levels of protection to suit your business.

What does the subscription cover?

Your subscription covers standard-price domain registration and renewal, ongoing availability monitoring, and forwarding for included domains.

For example, if you already own yourdomain.co.uk, you could choose yourdomain as your protected name. Domain Guard attempts to register matching domains such as yourdomain.com and yourdomain.org where covered by your package. These names are examples only.

What happens next?

After adding Domain Guard, a short setup wizard asks you to confirm the name you want to protect.

How does it work?

Domain Guard attempts to register available matching domains covered by your package. Registration is not instant and can take some time to process. We’ll send you an email notification once the domain has been successfully registered. If a domain is already taken, its availability is normally checked every five minutes, and registration is automatically attempted when it becomes available. Registration depends on availability and successful registrar processing, so acquisition cannot be guaranteed.

The Overview shows your domains, their statuses and the latest availability checks. The page refreshes every 15 seconds. Last checked shows the most recent successful availability check.

What do the statuses mean?

• Monitoring: Domain Guard is watching the domain for availability.
• Secured: The domain is registered and held within Domain Guard, with forwarding or a holding page and HTTPS ready.
• Needs attention: Waiting for review.

Where do secured domains send visitors?

The Website destination area shows where included domains send visitors. To change the shared destination, select Settings, then Website destination.

Can I use email with a held domain?

Email is not included in the holding service. To use an email address with a domain held through Domain Guard, contact our customer support team to arrange an upgrade to a full Domain & Email package with Webfactory. The domain will then be billed and managed separately from Domain Guard.

Which domains are covered?

Coverage depends on your package. Your package lists the domain endings included and your minimum-term end date.

• The Essential package includes .co.uk, .com and .uk
• The Enhanced package includes .co.uk, .com, .uk, .net, .org and .org.uk.
• The Complete package includes .co.uk, .com, .uk, .net, .org, .org.uk, .co, .biz, .info, .online, .site, and .shop
