How to grant or remove administrator access

You can grant or remove Administrator access from the Team members list or a team member's Permissions tab. Only an administrator can make this change.

Administrator access enables every Hub and product permission. To understand what this includes, read What is the difference between standard and administrator access?.

Step 1

Sign in to the Hub with an administrator account.

Step 2

Select your profile picture, then Manage team.

Step 3

Select Team members and find the person whose administrator access you want to change.

Step 4

Choose either of the following methods:

  • Open the menu beside the team member and choose the option to grant or remove administrator access.
  • Open the team member's profile, select the Permissions tab, and use the controls under Administrator access to grant or remove it.
Step 5

Review any confirmation shown and confirm the change.

Step 6

Check the team member's updated access level. If you have removed administrator access and the account uses Advanced permissions mode, review their direct and group permissions.

Granting Administrator access enables every Hub and product permission. The Manage team members and groups permission alone does not allow a standard user to grant or remove administrator access.

After removing administrator access, review the team member's direct permissions, group memberships and product seats, as these are managed separately.

If someone needs selected management tasks, consider specific Hub permissions instead of full administrator access. For individual changes, see How to manage Hub permissions for a team member.
