What do the Domain Guard statuses mean?

Domain Guard statuses show whether a domain is being monitored, registered, prepared for holding, or managed on a separate package.

Your Overview shows the current status of each domain.

Domain statuses

  • Monitoring: Watching for the domain to become available.
  • Monitoring paused: Availability checks are temporarily paused.
  • Awaiting registration: Available at the last check, waiting for registration.
  • Registering: Registration is in progress. This is not instant and can take some time while the registration is processed. We’ll send you an email notification once the domain has been successfully registered.
  • Setting up: Preparing forwarding or a holding page and HTTPS.
  • Secured: Registered, with forwarding or a holding page and HTTPS ready.
  • Needs attention: Registration or setup needs staff review.
  • Managed separately: The domain is on its own package rather than included in Domain Guard.
  • Already yours, managed separately: The domain already belongs to your account and is managed separately.

What is the normal progression?

For domains that are initially unavailable:
Monitoring → Awaiting registration → Registering → Setting up → Secured

Domains that are already available can start at Awaiting registration, without first showing Monitoring.

A domain may show a paused, review or separately managed status instead of following this progression.

Availability is normally checked every five minutes. The Overview page refreshes every 15 seconds; refreshing the page does not mean a new availability check has taken place. Last checked shows the most recent successful availability check. Registration depends on availability and successful registrar processing, so acquisition cannot be guaranteed.
