How to set up your Google product feed

This guide explains how to connect your Webfactory product feed to Google Merchant Center.

Before following these instructions, ensure that the Google product feed upgrade is active on your website. For information about the upgrade and how to request it, see what is a Google product feed – Upgrade.

Before you begin

You will need:

  • access to your Webfactory website editor,
  • an active Google product feed,
  • the feed URL supplied by Webfactory,
  • access to your Google Merchant Center account,
  • a verified and claimed website in Google Merchant Center.
Step 1

Check your products in the website editor

Sign in to the Webfactory Hub, open your website and select 'Webshop', then 'Products'. Check that each product you want to send to Google is published and has an accurate name, description, price, availability and main image.

Step 2

Find your product feed URL

In the website editor, select 'Webshop' and open 'Google shopping'. Locate the Google product feed details and copy the feed URL supplied by Webfactory. If the URL is not yet available, check the confirmation email sent when your feed was set up or contact Webfactory Support.

Step 3

Add the feed to Google Merchant Center

Sign in to Google Merchant Center. Open 'Settings', select 'Data sources', then open the 'Product sources' tab. Select 'Add product source', choose 'Add products from a file', enter the Webfactory feed URL, set an update schedule and select 'Save'.

Step 4

Check the first feed update

Open the product source in Google Merchant Center and check its processing status. Confirm how many products were found and review any warnings or errors in the product diagnostics or 'Needs attention' area.

Products missing from the feed

If a product does not appear, check that:

  • the product is published,
  • it has a price and a main product image,
  • its stock or availability is correct,
  • its product page is accessible on your live website,
  • the information shown on the product page matches the information submitted to Google.

Products rejected by Google

Google may reject products with missing or conflicting information. Common causes include an unsuitable image, a missing identifier, a mismatch between the feed and the live product page, or incomplete delivery and returns information. Review Google's product data specification for the latest requirements.

Keeping your feed up to date

Continue managing products through your Webfactory website editor as normal. Eligible changes are added to the feed automatically, but Google only receives them when it next retrieves and processes the feed. See Google's scheduled update guidance for more information.
