How to create a site alert
In this article, we'll guide you through the steps of adding an alert to your website and scheduling when it appears or is hidden.
A site alert is a notice displayed on your website. You can choose its location, such as the top of your home page or every page.
Use a site alert to tell visitors about holiday closures, promotions, scheduled maintenance or temporary service updates. Scheduling lets you prepare a notice in advance and control when it is displayed.
In the website editor, go to the Content tab.
Select Site alert.
Switch on Enable site alert. The alert must be enabled for its schedule to take effect.
Choose the Location of notice. You can select Top of home page or Top of every page. For a custom location, contact us.
Enter your Notice text. Keep this to a short line describing the subject of the alert, such as your holiday closure dates or a limited-time promotion.
Choose an Additional content display method.
- No additional content: display only your notice text.
- Link to a dedicated page: choose the page to link to in Dedicated page.
- Link to expand section to show more information: enter the additional information to display when a visitor expands the alert.
To schedule your alert, find Schedule and choose an Action.
- Show alert during schedule: display the alert only during the selected period.
- Hide alert during schedule: hide the alert during the selected period and display it outside those times.
- No schedule: remove the schedule. The alert’s visibility is then controlled by Enable site alert.
For a scheduled action, set the Start date and time. A start is required. You can also set End (optional), or leave it empty for the selected action to continue indefinitely. Times use your website’s time zone.
Click Update to save your alert and schedule.

If you don't see the site alert section in the 'Content' tab of the website editor, you can activate it by navigating to the 'Upgrades' tab and adding it for free.
