How to add or remove product permissions using groups
In this article, we'll guide you through adding or removing a group's permissions for a product in the Webfactory Hub.
Product permissions decide what group members can do inside a particular product. For example, a Knowledge Base may offer Manage content and Manage settings. Available permissions depend on the product.
Group permissions are managed in Advanced permissions mode. If the controls described below are unavailable, ask your administrator to check your permissions and the Hub's permissions mode.
Group membership does not allocate a product seat. Each member must also have access to the product. See How to give a team member access to a product.
Click your profile image and select Manage team.
Select Groups, then open the relevant group.
Open the Permissions tab and find Product permissions.
Expand the relevant product type and find the specific product you want to manage.
Select the link to manage that product's permissions, for example Manage Webfactory Support permissions.
Turn the required product permissions on or off, then click Save permissions. These permissions are inherited by members of the group who also have access to the product.
How group permissions affect team members
Changes apply to the permissions granted by this group for the selected product. Review the group's membership before changing a permission, as other members may be affected.
When reviewing an individual team member's product permissions, permissions inherited from a group show Permission granted from group. Their switches cannot be changed in the individual's dialog; update the source group instead.
If removing a permission does not remove access
The team member may still receive that permission directly or through another group. Review all sources of the permission. Removing a product permission also does not remove the team member's allocated product seat.
Hub permissions are separate
Hub permissions control account settings, billing and team management. They are managed in the Hub permissions section of a person's or group's Permissions tab. For this procedure, use Product permissions and select the intended product.
Check the product name before saving. A permission for one product does not automatically grant the same permission for every product of that type.
