How to transfer a .uk domain to us
In this article, we'll guide you through the steps of transferring your domain ending in .uk to us.
This guide only applies to domains ending in .uk (such as .co.uk, .org.uk, .uk, etc.).
Contact us for preparation
Reach out to our support team to start the transfer process. We need to prepare our system to receive your domain. You can contact us by phone on 02920 090 190, by email at hello@webfactory.co.uk or via live chat.
Contact your current domain provider
Next, get in touch with your current domain provider. Ask them to change the IPS tag of your domain to "GANDI". This enables the domain transfer to our systems. Let us know once this is done.
Confirm the transfer via email
You will receive two confirmation emails at the administrative contact email address associated with your domain name. One email will be from AWS and will ask you to approve the transfer to our account. You must follow the instructions in this email. You will also receive an email from GANDI asking you to transfer to your own account. You MUST NOT follow the instructions in this email.
Wait for the transfer to complete
Please be aware that the transfer process can take a few days to complete. During this time, your website and email services linked to the domain might face some downtime.
Possible downtime
If your current website or email services are linked to the domain you are transferring, this could result in service downtime. If this is a concern, we recommend contacting our support team to discuss potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
Fees
If the domain you're transferring is the primary domain for your website, there will be no additional fees. However, if this is a secondary domain, there's typically an ongoing fee to cover the domain costs.
