How to temporarily close your account (holding page)

In this article we'll guide you through your options if you are looking to close your account temporarily.

The first thing that is important to be aware of is that closing your account might damage your search engine optimisation and decrease your website's ranking. For that reason we recommend keeping any downtime to a minimum.

Temporarily shutting down your website with a holding page.
This method allows you to take your website offline for a short amount of time without closing your account (all ongoing fees will still be due).

  1. Go on your website editor page.
  2. Click on 'Settings', then 'General'.
  3. Find the 'Holding page' section.
  4. Click on the holding page sliding button then save by updating your settings.

To temporarily close your account, please contact a member of our support team on 02920 090 190 or email us at hello@webfactory.co.uk. You will receive a confirmation email once the closure is processed. Prior to closing, we may request settlement of your account balance.

If you close your account and you'd like to reopen your account later, contact a member of our support team. Please be aware that there is typically a £50+vat admin fee for reopening.

Please note, that once closed, we cannot guarantee the restoration of your account. The longer you wait to reopen it, the less likely we can successfully restore it.
