How to sort out products in your webshop

In this article, we'll show you how you can change the way your products are sorted in your webshop.

You can set the sort order of your products within your departments site wide in your webshop settings and you can also override this global setting with a department specific sort order.

Setting up a general sort order

  1. In the website editor, go to the 'Webshop' tab.
  2. Click on 'General settings'.
  3. Find the 'Product sorting' section to define the default order in which products appear on your webshop.
    • Name: A to Z, products will be listed alphabetically by name, starting from A and ending at Z.
    • Name: Z to A, products will be listed alphabetically by name, starting from Z and ending at A.
    • Price: High to Low, products are sorted by price, starting with the most expensive.
    • Price: Low to High, products are sorted by price, starting with the least expensive.
    • Popularity: displays the most viewed or purchased products first, based on customer interactions.
    • Priority Value: products are sorted based on a manual priority value that you can assign to each product, higher priority values will appear first.
    • Latest Added: shows the most recently added products at the top.
  4. If you'd like to give customers the option to change how products are sorted, tick the ‘Allow customers to change sort order’ box. The page will always start with the default your have selected.
  5. Click on 'Update settings' to save your changes.

Setting up a sort order by department

  1. In the website editor, go to the 'Content' tab.
  2. Select the 'Pages' section.
  3. Find and click on the department page where you’d like to set the sort order.
  4. Click on the ' Department settings' button.
  5. Locate the 'Default sort order' section to choose how products should be displayed within that specific department.
    • Global default: Products are sorted based on the general sort order defined in the 'General Settings' of the webshop.
    • Name: A to Z, products will be listed alphabetically by name, starting from A and ending at Z.
    • Name: Z to A, products will be listed alphabetically by name, starting from Z and ending at A.
    • Price: High to Low, products are sorted by price, starting with the most expensive.
    • Price: Low to High, products are sorted by price, starting with the least expensive.
    • Popularity: displays the most viewed or purchased products first, based on customer interactions.
    • Priority Value: products are sorted based on a manual priority value that you can assign to each product, higher priority values will appear first.
    • Latest Added: shows the most recently added products at the top.
  6. Click on 'Update settings' to save your changes.

If you don’t want to use one of the standard sorting options (such as A to Z or Price: High to Low), you can choose the 'Priority Value' sorting method. This allows you to control the exact order in which products appear by assigning each product a custom priority.

To use this method, go to the relevant product page in the 'Website editor'. Find the ‘Sort priority’ box on your product page and enter a number to define the product’s position (lower numbers appear first). For example, a product with priority 1 will show above a product with priority 5.
