How to add a booking system

In this article, we'll explain how booking system integrations work and what you need before requesting one.

How booking integrations work

A booking system allows visitors to check availability and book a service, appointment, room, class or event through your website. Depending on the provider, it may also manage payments, confirmations, reminders and cancellations.

We do not develop or operate booking systems.

We can connect a compatible third-party system to your website using:
- a booking link or button
- embeddable code or a booking widget
- the provider's API, where a more customised integration is required

The available design and functionality will depend on the provider, your subscription plan and the integration options it supplies. We will review your chosen system before confirming that it is compatible.

Examples of booking systems

The following providers are examples you may wish to consider:

- Appointments and services: SimplyBook.me, SimplyMeet.me, Acuity Scheduling and Calendly
- Beauty and wellness: Fresha and Timely
- Accommodation and holiday lets: freetobook, Bookalet and Zeevou
- Classes, courses and events: Bookwhen

This list is not exhaustive or a guarantee that every provider or subscription plan can be integrated. Features and prices can change, so check the provider's website before opening an account.

If you prefer a different booking system, send us its website and integration details so we can check whether it is suitable.

Before choosing a provider

Check that the booking system:
- supports the type of bookings you need
- provides a booking widget, embeddable code or API access on your chosen plan
- includes any payments, deposits, calendars or reminders you require
- can collect the information you need from customers
- meets your budget and operational requirements

We cannot add a feature that the provider does not make available through its link, widget, embed or API.

Request an integration

Send our Support team:
- the provider's name and website
- details of the subscription plan you intend to use
- a link to its integration or API documentation
- a short description of how you want the booking process to work
- the pages where the booking system should appear

Do not send API keys or passwords until we have advised you how to share them securely.

Costs and ongoing management

We will review the provider and your requirements before supplying a quote and estimated timescale. A standard link or widget may require less work than a customised API integration.

Provider subscription, transaction and usage charges are separate and are paid directly to the provider.

You will manage availability, bookings, payments and customer information through the third-party system. If the provider changes or removes its integration options, further work may be required to keep the connection working.
