How is your domain tracked with SiteRank
SiteRank helps you monitor how your website appears in search engine results for specific keywords. You can learn more in our support article on where to find your search term ranking results.
Example
You run a webshop called audiosound.com that sells audio hardware, and you want to see how it ranks for the keyword wireless earbuds.
- Search term: wireless earbuds
- Domain: audiosound.com
SiteRank will search for “wireless earbuds” and identify where audiosound.com appears in the search results. This gives you a clear view of your ranking for each tracked keyword.
Tracking with or without ‘www’
When adding your domain, you can choose whether to include ‘www’ or not. Here’s how it works:
Tracking without ‘www’
This tracks all subdomains of your domain, such as:
- blog.yourdomain.com
- shop.yourdomain.com
This is the recommended option if your content spans multiple subdomains or if you want full visibility across your entire domain.
Tracking with ‘www’
This limits tracking to just the ‘www’ version of your domain. It will not include:
- yourdomain.com (non-www root)
- blog.yourdomain.com
- other subdomains
Choose this only if you specifically want to track search rankings for the main ‘www’ subdomain and exclude others.
Why most users choose no ‘www’
Using yourdomain.com (without ‘www’) gives the broadest and most accurate view of your website’s visibility. It includes results from all subdomains—ideal if parts of your website, services, or tools are hosted separately. It also prevents missing data due to technical variations between subdomains.
If you’re not sure which setup is right for you, our support team is happy to help.
Always choose relevant search terms and review your results regularly and adjust keywords as needed.
We recommend tracking your domain without 'www' for better coverage.
