How to Add / update CAA records to your domain name
In this article we'll guide you through the process of adding / updating CAA records to your domain name.
What are CAA records?
CAA records are a type of domain setting that controls which companies are allowed to issue SSL certificates for your domain.
SSL certificates are important because they encrypt information sent to/from your website, keeping visitors information secure. Without one, your visitors will not see the little padlock to let them know that your website is secure, and their browser will warn them that they are at risk by using your site.
Why are CAA records important?
CAA records restrict who can issue certificates for your domain. By using CAA records, you ensure that only pre-defined companies can do this.
How does this affect us
As your web host, we generate an SSL certificate for your website as part of the service we offer. However, if your registrar has added CAA records to your domain it will block us from generating a certificate until we are whitelisted.
To resolve this, we need additional records to be added to your domain.
How to add/update CAA records
Whitelisting us is very simple. You will need to request your current domain host to add the following records to your domain. Some domain hosts will enable you to do this yourself through a control panel.
Please replace "yourdomain.co.uk" with your domain in the below table. Once your domain has been updated please let us know so we can start the process of setting up your SSL certificate.
